Save Up to 40% on Your AWS Bill!
Adopting the world’s best cloud services offering is just the first step. To make the most of your AWS infrastructure, you need to continuously optimize your expenses and review your services to discover what you are using and what you aren’t. The Cloudvisor team’s in-depth knowledge can help you immediately improve your AWS setup and further reduce your costs with tailored recommendations.
The Cost Optimization Review is a structured document (like the example below) filled with detailed insights about your current usage and steps you can take to improve your infrastructure and lower your AWS costs.
Benefits of the AWS Cost Optimization Review
Better visibility
The Review provides detailed cost and usage insights that can help you understand your organization’s resource usage better.
Improved resource efficiency
The Review will help you identify and address underutilized or idle resources, which can improve the efficiency of your resource usage.
Why is AWS Cost Optimization Important?
Optimizing AWS costs is important to avoid spending too much on resources that are not fully utilized or unnecessary. This helps you get the most value out of AWS services. By aligning your cloud spending with how much you actually use, you can increase profitability, improve financial flexibility, and reduce the risk of overspending. It not only saves costs but also promotes a culture of accountability and efficient resource usage within your organization. Additionally, continuously optimizing costs allows your business to adapt to changing needs and usage patterns, ensuring that your AWS infrastructure stays cost-effective in the long run.
Identifying Cost Optimization Opportunities
The first step to saving money on AWS is to find ways to reduce costs while still maintaining or improving performance and efficiency. Our AWS Cost Optimization Review carefully examines your AWS usage and spending patterns to uncover these opportunities. By analyzing how you currently use your resources, we can identify areas where costs can be reduced. This includes:
- Unused or underutilized resources: Resources not being used to their full potential, like idle EC2 instances or unused EBS volumes.
- Over-provisioned instances: Instances that are larger or more powerful than necessary for the workload.
- Incorrect pricing model: For instance, utilizing on-demand instances for workloads better suited for reserved or spot instances.
Our review also emphasizes potential savings through Reserved Instances, Spot Instances, or AWS Savings Plans, ensuring that you leverage AWS pricing models to their fullest advantage.
Implementing Cost Optimization Strategies
Implementing cost-saving strategies is a careful process that involves taking action based on the recommendations outlined in the Cost Optimization Review. This includes various actions such as:
- Rightsizing instances: Selecting the appropriate instance type and size for each workload to ensure optimal performance at the lowest cost.
- Optimizing storage: Utilizing lifecycle policies to transition data to lower-cost storage tiers, or employing data compression tools to diminish storage costs.
- Adjusting scaling policies: Scaling down resources during low usage periods, or employing auto-scaling to guarantee resources are readily available when needed, thereby optimizing costs.
- Leveraging cost allocation tags: This facilitates the tracking and analysis of costs by department, project, or other criteria, providing a clearer insight into expenditure.
Our skilled team can help you with the implementation process to make sure that the recommended strategies are carried out correctly. If you want, our Engineering team can also help with making the changes, so that the transition to a more cost-effective AWS infrastructure goes smoothly. Additionally, setting up a system to monitor and control costs will help you continuously optimize your AWS expenses by keeping track of them and managing them effectively.
How Does It Work?
The AWS Cost Optimization Review is a thorough process that typically spans one to three weeks from initiation to conclusion. While each case may present unique circumstances, the structured process generally unfolds as follows:
1
Initial Access and Data Collection
Customer provides read access to their AWS usage data (Cost and Usage Reports).
2
In-depth Analysis
We gather and analyze the data using a specialized 3rd party tool.
3
Report Preparation and Recommendations
We present the findings in a structured document alongside additional comments and advice.
4
Recommendation Implementation
You implement the recommended changes (or our Engineering team can help you deploy the changes for an additional cost).
How Much Does it Cost?
We charge a fee of $2,000 for each AWS Cost Optimization Review. However, for companies with a monthly AWS expenditure below $5,000, or for users of our AWS Resell service, this review is provided free of charge. This pricing structure aims to support businesses of varying sizes in achieving cost-efficiency with their AWS infrastructure.
