A startup can apply to the AWS Activate program in various stages of its lifecycle. It has to comply with these main requirements:
- Self-funded or funded (up to and including Pre-Seed, Angel, Seed, Debt Finance, and Series A)
- Associated with an Activate Provider and have their OrgID
- Have a functioning company website
- Founded within the last 10 years
The first step is AWS Activate Founders – a $1k of credits that is obtained very easily. And then there are several more AWS Activate Portfolio levels: $10k, $25k, $50k, $75k, and $100k.
See our available Credits options below and also Credit Offers. Bear in mind that AWS Activate program is cumulative and credits provisioned in the past are counted against the newly provided credits tier. For example: if a startup has already received $25k from another provider in the past, and now receives funding from a new provider for $100k, they will be provisioned with $75k of credits (the difference).
Upon joining the Cloudvisor Resell Program, your existing AWS credits will start to be reallocated to your billing family under Cloudvisor. This process typically takes between 30 to 60 days.
During the process, Cloudvisor is covering newly issued AWS invoices with expected AWS credits to receive to your billing family. Cloudvisor will be using these credits for further AWS invoices until they run out.
The existing amount of credits under your billing family can be seen in the Cloudvisor Customer Portal. The remainder of credits not yet reallocated to Cloudvisor is visible in AWS Console > Billing > Credits.
By joining Cloudvisor Resell Program, your credits become cross-usable between different Cloudvisor services. AWS credits can be used to cover AWS services usage, engineering services provided by Cloudvisor, and support services provided by Cloudvisor.
Clients can decide how to use AWS credits – it is possible to cover only some set of services and pay the rest with an invoice.
NEW since 2025-03 Terms and Conditions state that credits transferred to our organization can only be used to offset customers’ AWS spending when part of our organization. They are not refundable if they decide to leave.
7.1.
AWS Credits obtained with the assistance of the Service Provider must be utilized while the Client’s AWS Account(-s) remains associated with the Service Provider’s AWS Reseller Account. Should the Client unlink their AWS Account(-s) from the Service Provider’s AWS Reseller Account or terminate the agreement, any unused and unexpired AWS Credits obtained through the Service Provider’s assistance shall not be transferred to the Client or otherwise compensated. The Client shall have no claim against the Service Provider regarding the loss of AWS Credits obtained through the Service Provider’s assistance.
7.2.
understands and agrees that any AWS Credits obtained independently of the Service Provider (i.e., without the assistance of the Service Provider) and intended to remain on the Client’s AWS Account(-s) to which the credits were originally assigned must be disclosed in advance by the Client. This allows the Service Provider to deactivate credit sharing and ensure such credits are not automatically transferred to the Service Provider. Failure to inform the Service Provider in advance may result in the credits being associated with the AWS Reseller Account and thus rules set out in Clause 7.1 would further apply.
7.3.
understands and agrees that any AWS Credits associated with the Client’s AWS Account(-s) while under the Service Provider’s AWS Reseller Account shall be applied by the Service Provider to partially or fully offset the cost of Client’s used AWS services. The Client shall not request or expect the return, transfer, or compensation of such credits upon disassociation from the Service Provider’s AWS Reseller Account.”
If Client decides to leave Cloudvisor Resell organization and would still have a positive credits balance with us, and would implicitly ask us whether we could provide him his credits back, then we should communicate that yes, we can transfer them back but in a form of bank transfer through an invoice in 30 to 60 days.
There are no lock-ins with Cloudvisor. Used AWS services and Cloudvisor services will be billed and deducted from your AWS credits pool up until leaving Cloudvisor Resell Program. Leaving the Cloudvisor Resell organization will mean that you will be directly billed by AWS starting from the day of leaving.
AWS fully manages the credits transfer mechanism so eventually, all credits will be transferred to the Cloudvisor AWS Organization. The transfer pace can be moderated if customer would like us to disable credit sharing.
Please note that in order for Cloudvisor to receive customer’s credits in time, credits have to be valid for at least until the end of next month. Credits transfer and usage takes time and according to AWS, organization can utilize member accounts’ credits only during the next billing cycle (starting next calendar month).
If the customer’s credits are valid until the end of the current month, then it is better to join Cloudvisor after they expire. In this case, at least their full month of usage will be covered by their credits, instead only the part of the month before joining Cloudvisor.
